Stephan has mentioned that many people have written and said to him what Third Eye Blind means to them, in terms that have illuminated him --rebellion and liberation, alienation and longing to belong.
He's also said what matters is not what the band thinks it is but what you think it is. It is the community that comes together around this music that keeps this music alive.

To me Third Eye Blind is kind of a void to a dimension where i can stay, and reach some kind of spiritual trance surrounded by positivity. Thanks to you guys i know ill never walk alone.

Third Eye Blind is the mouth that sings the experiences of my awkward youth. The anthem of a generation heading into the new century, yet trying so hard to hold on the past one. A grain of salt in this tastless and phony world.
I will never forget sitting on my living room floor with my best friends and putting in the "Third Eye Blind" album. To make a night of tossing back beer and listening to your music is something special and rare that i will never take for granted. Whether it is in my car, my ipod, or drunk on the floor we hear you, and we love you.
Third Eye blind is the source that acknowledged the irony that we are the only thing in the universe that is aware of our own insignificance and we dont know what to do with it. In the face of that irony, and in the face of the sorrow, confusion, curiosity, and hopelessness that that irony results in, they became their own reason to exist when existing seemed maybe pointless. They became their own point. They are one of my points. Third eye blind is part of what warrants and justifies life. The biggest problem I have with this band is that I dont how to express what they mean to me. I have no example to look to that I can mimic or reenact as far as how someone should act when they feel the way I do about something. "The deepest truths cant be communicated." - Plato. Thank you for being what you are for me. And for thousands of others, I'm sure. I love you. Even "i love you" feels so inadequate. ( I feel like i'm talking to that stupifying first love of a girlfriend. haha) I'm sorry for failing to give you a deserving thank you.

Third Eye Blind exists. Truly, resolutely, utterly exists. Exists in its own innate way and isn't muddled or abated by negative opinions or corporate sellout. Third Eye Blind is that feeling you get when a complete stranger greets you on the street or gives you his spot in line and you feel the most childish and wholly pure love for them. And it's when you realize that humanity as a collective consciousness coincides with every facet of your life. And it's when you notice how gorgeous the sky looks from any conceivable angle. It's everything I've ever wanted to say put to a tune.
