Another week goes by, and it blows my mind how much animosity is still floating around this site.
But haters are going to hate and that being said, I thought I'd go ahead show a little love. This week, I want to talk "timing".
Now, let's be real, 6.5 years is a long time to wait on a new album. And I can't argue that amidst the already delayed "estimated release date(s)" of Minor its looking like we got a while to go before we hear any new 3eb tracks.
But, Jenkins, and I can only speak for myself, as a fan I say. 'screw it.'
You could have given me 16.5 years to come up with Major and I still wouldn't have an album with lyrics as deep, rock as intense, or songs as memorable as the one's you dropped on Major.
If anyone else can, then I'd love to hear it. And I mean that litterally. If anyone knows of a band than that can rival Major. then hell, the whole world should hear it if you ask me.
So keep on working bro. Take your time. We are your people, we'll walk with you, and we'll be here when your ready to 'return to fearless'. Because we know you can't just 'let it be' and we probably wouldn't love you the same way if you could.

Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 4:32 PM by MaggieNI agree... they can take their time. it was great when major finally came out, and I'm not going to hold my breath too see if/when minor drops. There is no rush. However, Stephan, if you're listening, you should accidentally leak a track or two.

Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 5:32 PM by The Town AssholeUrsa Major had deep lyrics?
The S/T had deep lyrics, I don't see any band/album rivaling that one.
Blue had deep lyrics.
Even Out Of The Vein, which was mainly written over the destroyed relationship with Charlize Theoren, was able to provide lyrics that didn't obviously hint at it that way making it one-dimensional.
Ursa Major was, by far, not the most rocking or lyrically dense album that has ever come out. It contained some instances/songs that were pretty meaningful, and then a whole lot of filler and borderline nonsense that would have totally thrown me off had I been a casual listener, unaware of the butchering that Stephan had been able to do given those "oh so short" 6 years that you didn't mind waiting for.
What that man has done to his band members is totally disrespectful, but if I were to give him any advice, it's that he absolutely does not need people like you to encourage him. Give him 16 YEARS to make the album?! If nothing else he needs someone that will manage him and tell him when he had something worthwhile, and when he tinkered with it too far.
Nope, instead you've got Stephan Stalin Jenkins running the entire show, at his lazy ass pace, and with no one to tell him that what he had was gold and that he should just leave certain songs in their most prime state.
LOL, Maggie come on, you know how this guy works: he should run as the CEO for the Anti-Piracy Organization. The ONE thing he's still any good at (and he's damn good at it) is keeping fans from getting music.

thats a little ridiculous man....but to each his own i guess

Thu, Mar 11, 2010 at 8:23 AM by Till My Castle's BlueThis is also how I feel. 16.5 years! That means I would almost be 44 years old when it came out and SJ would be like 60 something and if you think the music wouldn't change well... Did you see "the who" on the superbowl halftime show? But I love reading this post cause it makes me laugh every time. Oh ya, Foo Fighters "Echos, silence, patience, and grace. And In your Honor" are both GREAT lyrically and musically and came out within that 6 years. I love 3eb more than the foo's but I'm gonna say both of those albums could rival UM. Not the other 3 albums though. Then again its all opinion, right?

Thu, Mar 11, 2010 at 8:45 AM by Apples&BabyWolverinesI don't think he is suggesting that Stephan should take 16.5 years to come up with an album. I think Dew's saying if Dew had 16.5 years to create an album, he couldn't make it as good as UM.
RE: Stephan Jenkins you are STILL the man...
Thu, Mar 11, 2010 at 9:14 AM by Till My Castle's BlueNow that you say that, it makes sense. I hope that's what Dew meant.

When you wrote this, I knew you were just fucking with me, and then, I couldn't take seriously the rest of the what you wrote. This you can be sure. SJ will take his time......

Where do you get your sense of entitlement? It's his art. He can tinker with it as much as he wants and release it whenever he wants. Am I thrilled that it took 6 years for UM? No, but I waited. And like several others was a little disappointed with it. But as a rational person I understand that Stephan can do whatever the fuck he wants.
I'm going to make a suggestion. Start your own band and write your own music and your own lyrics. That way it will be exactly the way you think it should be and that way you won't have to put up with SJ.

Thu, Mar 11, 2010 at 5:12 PM by Scott FreeHey Matt,
Are you Stephan's attorney? As a fan I am deeply disappointed in the trajectory of my band and am hoping that by the grace of God SJ finds his mojo that he may have left in one of his girlfriend' s handbag. Obviously, others feel the same and since he reads the posts, I am giving him a piece of my F'in mind. Ultimately, however, maybe its a California thing, but he does things on his on time. But, don't tell us what the fuck to feel or what to write.
RE: Stephan Jenkins you are STILL the man...
Fri, Mar 12, 2010 at 2:49 PM by 3ebfan1997Maybe i'm the only one, but i don't really look at a majority of the songs on UM as "memorable", "intense", or "deep". A lot of OOTV could be described that way, especially "deep". You could also definitely say that S/T & Blue were all three of those. I could never forget those two incredible albums. I just don't feel the same about Major. That's just my opinion.
Keep working, yes. Hopefully with the guitarist he needs. That's definitely wishful thinking, though.

Fri, Mar 12, 2010 at 9:15 PM by mandizzle317Wow... I find that really hard to believe. I guess I don't understand what you mean about the songs not having depth. I mean... maybe it's confusing because you're saying it in the negative? Is it to say that the songs are forgettable, bland and shallow?
I feel like I'm going to completely disagree, but I'd like to know what you mean...
RE: Stephan Jenkins you are STILL the man...
Fri, Mar 12, 2010 at 9:23 PM by iCARUSsWANsONGi'm pretty sure i'm not alone here, but maybe many are agreeing that UM is not that great cuz its still pretty fresh. i'm still trying to love this album as much as i love the other three.
UM was just like OOTV when it first came out, i seriously hated that album. and now, i fuckin love it! lol i think it will take a while for people to like or love this album. one thing though, i absolutely disagree with people claiming it has no depth.
RE: Stephan Jenkins you are STILL the man...
Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 10:33 AM by NYGREEN.. Same I initially hated OOTV but, it definitely grew on me.. Ursa is different though, because people already knew the songs and loved them.. and than the band goes and changes them.. not to mention the other songs which were in the works for years (hideous strength) that got the boot for 1 in 10 & WCYB
RE: Stephan Jenkins you are STILL the man...
Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 11:26 AM by Apples&BabyWolverinesI think it's absurd for people to be mad that songs changed and developed between albums. If you want the songs to be exactly your way, start your own gd band.
