I've missed you, my darlings! I was abducted pirates.But I'm back.

Did you die love ?

--Yes I did. And I saw a white light and then I realized I got shanghai-ed, slid down one of those tunnels and pressed into service as a shipboard cook. Miss me, yes! But don't pity me because Arcana's developed a new skill. Now in addition to being a clairvoyant with a little extra obsession with all things naughty, Arcana now knows how to sling some hash! And those merchant marines are hungry and she never gets sick at sea and she swam back to shore with tales to tell! The problem is, of course, no one ever believes Arcana and the evidence is gone since they sunk the ship with all those damn pirates on it, little did they know that Arcana just made them their last meal which was a quite tasty rainbow trout with dill and carrots number that I worked up. I sank the boat just off the Oregon coast and hitchhiked back after a brief stay in Mount Shasta to regain a clear perspective of things.

I know what you all are saying right now. How did you get trout and carrots on a pirate ship!?! But I've told you, Arcana has her ways, and I've been to the ocean, I've been to the mountain and I'm back to serve with humble kindness. A big ol meal of glorious rock love! I will miss that captain though! He had a certain bow-legged swagger that my thoughts drifted into but alas he had to die!

Will any of arion's bass parts be used on minor? his work on bonfire is amazing

--Not so far, but magic 8 ball says ask again.

How are lyrics coming along for carnival barker?

--You know that scene in the ring where that creepy little kid is at the bottom of the well? The lyrics are behaving like that.

Is there a chance we'll ever get a studio recording of gorgeous? It is my fave 3eb track, but the demo is not enough!

--Oh yes it is. Mistress Mistra Minna Choi was just over the other day. It's mixed, it's most certainly magik and they're working o the video edit to release it as part of the Ursa rising book.

Is there anywhere I could get a huge 4' x 4' poster of the Ursa Major Album Cover for my room?

--Yes, go to Kinkos! Go up the clerk and say, "just how stoned are you. Nevermind, I'd like this blown into a 4 x 4 poster please." That should take care of it.

Will the guys be playing for Bamboozle again this year?

--Magic 8 ball says stay tuned for huge bamboozle info.

Arcana, earlier in the year you had said that Away was a maybe for minor, any update on it's status?

--Away is an Arcana favorite and she, my friend, is your humble champion. Magic 8 ball says probably.

So how is the recording of Ursa Minor going? What's the newly projected release date?

--Honey bun, all the bees are banging around in a bonnet right now. Let me rephrase the kittens are in a bunch. There will definitely be a single out before spring but the whole of Minor? Let's put it this way, me keeps asking the 8 ball on this question and it's coming up bubbles.

Stephan says there is a lot of negativity at TVCY and that's what deters him from visiting the site and posting. I SERIOUSLY don't think people would be rude to him over there if he just made a few posts. People would be nice and welcoming, believe it or not. I sincerely think that a few posts made by him would change the attitude of the whole website. Talk him into it, Arcana.

--Here's what happens when Arcana translates that sentence into the odd pirate dialect I picked up while in bondage the last couple of months (not to knock bondage. Frankly, it always has been a sick curiosity of mine ever since seeing Betty Page all tied up in bangs). Back to my translation, here's the English translation back from pirate dialect: hey Stephan, put your body parts in this meat grinder. It's your friend. You won't be flayed and turned into bratwurst. No way, not at all. Just because I've got my hand on the crank, we might just eat you alive!

Allow me to clarify: Lady Gaga's eyes freak me out, and yet she's my favorite tranny! Arcana wishes to foster the Assembly ethos --loving kindness, positivity, big dose of kink . . .no, that's about it.

In the demo "sorry" Stephan apologizes for breaking into a 7-11 with a plastic gun. What is this a reference to?

--It's a reference to people doing, nevermind. Well actually, self-referential imagery, evocative of all manner of stupid pointless shit, seemingly for self-gain that is ultimately self-demeaning.

Well lovelies, Arcana is grateful to be alive and back in your service. I send you all big smushy kisses from my spot in my tub as I try to wash off that seaweed and salt water scent that lingers from my brief pirate sojourn. Ahoy maties!

Philip is bassist and singer of Blue Sky Reality. They were nice guys and fun to play with. Phillip has been smashed up good and hard in a car crash -- broken back, internal organs pummeled-- he's still in the hospital and still hurting. What he talks about is getting back on the road. They talk about shows with 3eb as a highlight.

We all want to be back on the road, and we want Philip out there too. Hope you will all send him a get well card and wish him the glory of rock and a speedy recovery. You can send Philip your support and thoughts through their myspace page here.

True Meaning has launched.

It was scary to put on the first event. We worked hard on True Meaning for a year. We worked skipping meals, sleeping in the office, and waking up at 4am hard. We want to open stores to end poverty. It's a bold concept, and we were excited and nervous to share it with everyone.

Next holiday season, we think True Meaning Stores will be a real and effective force in moving people out of extreme poverty.

The purpose of the launch party was to show donors and people who can help that the concept can work. The enthusiasm at the event exceeded all of our hopes. Post event press coverage ensured us of people's trust and belief in the True Meaning. Since the launch, we have received overwhelming positive feedback ---people are eager to get involved and learn more about remarkable tools to end poverty. This makes us happy. And grateful.

Plus, a lot of people had a really good time. Magik*Magik Orchestra played with us in this beautiful historic savings bank hall. Minna Choi has the most beautiful singing voice. If you haven't her open Dao yet, you will soon. We rocked our hearts out, and the fans that came so helped with the vibe. We're going to post videos and for now, check out the pictures.

True Meaning is our call to action. We want to put the tools to end poverty in the hands of those experiencing it. This is the beginning of a lasting commitment, and we hope everyone at Assembly will find a way to be a part of it.

There we are 5 minutes from the Mexican border driving away from fun times in McAllen and our way to San Antonio driving through the balmy Texas night. Good times on the bus with Brad, Stephan, Lee, and resident film editor TK.

Hark! It's the US Border Patrol. They want to board the bus with drug sniffing dogs and check for aliens and contraband and sure enough, an agent steps on board.

Officer: Got any aliens here?
Answer: Yes sir, officer. We're all aliens here.

Officer: Will I find any weed on this bus?
Answer: We certainly hope not!

MUSIC CONCERTS IN DIGITAL CINEMA THEATERS

First Concert Featuring Third Eye Blind Launches
October 22 in Select Digital Cinemas Nationwide

SAN DIEGO, October 12, 2009 - Sony Electronics is launching the first in a series of digital cinema music concerts, as part of the ongoing alternative content initiative by its Digital Cinema Solutions and Services group.

The first event premieres in select theaters nationwide October 22 and features Third Eye Blind, performing live from The Crash Mansion in New York City, recorded on August 20. The "Sony Club Dates" series is being booked and managed in collaboration with Media Push Entertainment LLC.

Attendees to this exclusive "one night only" event will see the multi-platinum band perform its biggest hits as well as songs from their newest release "Ursa Major," in a very intimate and exclusive "club" setting.

"We usually play much larger venues, so this is a special experience in front of an intimate audience," said Stephan Jenkins, lead singer of Third Eye Blind.

Released in August 2009, "Ursa Major" debuted at #3 on Billboard's Top 200 and was the #1 Independent Album and #1 Digital Album.

The program will also be carried on Sony's PlayStation Network and available for a 30-day period on Sony's BRAVIA^TM Internet Video platform as video-on-demand IP content.
Shot in high definition with 5.1 Dolby Digital^TM surround sound, "Sony Club Dates" presents exhibitors and music fans with a high-quality HD, cinematic, surround sound experience in a "club environment." Making the show even more dynamic, select theaters will show the concert using Sony's innovative 4K digital cinema projectors.

"Sony 4K systems present unprecedented levels of resolution and contrast, giving audiences a much more engaging and immersive entertainment experience in a movie theater," said Mike Fidler, senior vice president of Digital Cinema Solutions and Services for Sony Electronics. "Alternative content is an essential part of our overall strategy for exhibitors. We are excited that Club Dates' will be presented to fans in this manner as we look to bring more value to the growing Sony 4K customer base."

The event will be promoted through a variety of outlets, including social network sites that Third Eye Blind fans use to find out about new releases, concert performances and other band information.

"Bringing digital cinema exhibitors the strategy of a concert series' from emerged music artists with very active social network followings is one of the distinguishing characteristics of the Club Dates series," said Steve Sterling, President of Media Push Entertainment. "Both exhibitors and music fans will now see that there is a new destination for enjoying music in a high-quality visual and audio environment --- their local movie theater."

Third Eye Blind's fourth studio album "Ursa Major" was released by Mega Collider Records/Megaforce and distributed by RED, a division of Sony.

"Monday night, Music City brought the noise, truly earning its name. While MC Dan Deacon played at one end of the city, downtown, the Cannery Ballroom was host to one of this fall's most anticipated and talked about shows - Third Eye Blind's triumphant return to Nashville.

Opening band Blueskyreality got things off to an energetic start, their piano-driven, soul-fueled rock pumping adrenaline into the veins of the concertgoers. The chance to open for one of their all-time favorite bands only fueled BSR's excitement, said bassist Phil Bloom. This was only the group's second time in Nashville (their first since last spring's show at Vanderbilt), and they were treating it "like a second chance to win over the city." And win they did, bringing more heart and passion to their high-octane performance than most expected.

On the heels of their latest release, "Ursa Major" (and resultant resurgence in popularity), Third Eye Blind absolutely brought the house down before a sold-out crowd who couldn't get enough. It was the kind of crowd that bands dream about playing for - legions of fans, both new and old, who treated every song like a do-or-die sing-a-long.

The band, led by charismatic front man Stephan Jenkins, tore through a lengthy set list at breakneck speed, playing hit after hit interspersed with new songs. After an explosive opening with "Can You Take Me" from "Ursa Major," the classics began to roll, beginning with "Losing A Whole Year" from the band's stellar 1997 debut album. From there, 3eb spent almost 90 minutes playing favorites like "Jumper," "Semi-Charmed Life," "Motorcycle Drive-By," and "Never Let You Go," as well as newer tracks like "One in Ten." Finally, the band closed out the show with an encore that included two of their more moving songs, "Slow Motion" and "God of Wine," back-to-back.

Junior Rowdy Lantis summed up the sentiments of most of the crowd: "I feel like after last night, I can finally die happy."

He's more critical of classical music written by rock artists (McCartney, Zappa), and has something to say about orchestral arrangements of rock music.

"Music Review: Third Eye Blind's Latest Gem"

"Following a six-year break between full lengths, alt rock veterans Third Eye Blind again walk a fine line between aggression and a deft pop sensibility on their latest, "Ursa Major."
Frontman Stephan Jenkins still knows his way around a catchy hook (even those who hated the "do-do-do's" of 1997's "Semi-Charmed Life" probably couldn't get it out of their heads) but he never skimps on throwing down a hard riff or unleashing a scream to get his point across.
Jenkins' lyrics juxtapose poetry with profanity, anger with longing and big world issues with the personal - drug and emotional abuse for example - and his emotive voice still boasts a hip-hop influenced cadence that makes for some fun and interesting wordplay.
Opening with the pulsating "Can You Take Me," Jenkins wails "Let's start a riot me and you/cuz a riot's overdue," and on the world-weary single "Don't Believe A Word" he laments that "We like thugs when they attack/And we like crime when it's black on black."
"Summer Town" is an acoustic-flavored delight, "Water Landing" soars with a gospel choir, and lighter moments come with mid-tempo tracks "About to Break," "One in Ten" and "Why Can't You Be."
It's been a while, but Third Eye Blind hasn't forgotten how to lay down a strong record.
CHECK THIS TRACK OUT: "Bonfire" kicks off with a stuttering acoustic guitar before kickstarting into a bouncing rocker while Jenkins confesses a lovesick passion with the simple refrain, "I keep burning on, and on, and on."

What Stephan looks like as a fan!

It's no secret Stephan is a big fan of the Rachel Maddow Show, and he appeared on the radio show last year while campaigning for Barack Obama. He's pretty much over the moon about being invited to come hang out at her show. "There's so many things I think are so great about her. Just by being her cheerful self, she makes terrific stand against the whole long lock step everybody's gotta be the same kind of thing. I also like that she's a combination of the most informed, educated, and zany journalist ever (see the bit where she rocked the Sarah Palin waders)."

Third Eye Blind will play a mini-set during their upcoming Friday, July 17 Good Morning America performance in Central Park (Rumsey Playfield). Gates open at 6am and the performance starts around 8am and runs until 9am. The show is FREE, but please get there early.

Third Eye Blind is having a contest for best Third Eye Blind and Ursa Major sign at the Good Morning America Central Park Show. One contest winner and a guest will have breakfast with the band after the GMA performance for best sign. The band will choose the winner while they perform on stage.

"I wanted to create a video that actually represented Third Eye Blind," says Stephan Jenkins, lead singer and songwriter for the group (and famous Punk'd guest). "The song is angry, bold and dirty and so are we!" Yup, the guy who fronted the band that gave us huge hits like "Semi-Charmed Life," "How's It Going To Be," "Jumper" and "Never Let You Go" has just directed/pieced together a new, innovative video for the group that utilizes hundreds of photos to mimic stop-motion production. Like some of the best Third Eye Blind tracks, the song has political implications, and its promo clip now debuts on The Huffington Post. So here's your chance to be the first kid on your block to experience all four minutes of the angry, bold and dirty that is "Don't Believe A Word"...

BREAKING NEWS: Third Eye Blind To Play Good Morning America Central Park! Tune in Friday, July 17th.

Central Park opens to the public at 6am and concerts are free and open to the public. "Good Morning America" airs live from 7 to 9am, with concert performances usually starting around 8:30am. Performances are held in Rumsey Playfield in Central Park; please see map for directions. See you there!

Art for Life is a 501(c)3 organization:

Founded in 1995 by brothers Russell, Danny and Joseph "Rev. Run" Simmons, Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation is dedicated to providing disadvantaged urban youth with significant exposure and access to the arts, as well as providing exhibition opportunities to under-represented artists and artists of color. A 501(C)3 organization, Rush Philanthropic fulfills its mission through three core programs: grants, exhibitions and mentoring. Since the founding of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation (RPAF), Rush has impacted the lives of over 700,000 urban youth, directed millions in funding from donors (including individuals, foundations, and leading corporations) to underserved youth, and established two exhibit and education facilities, Corridor Gallery in Brooklyn's Clinton Hill neighborhood and Rush Arts Gallery in Manhattan's Chelsea arts district. Initially, to jump-start the Rush Arts Gallery and Community Grants programs the Foundation hosted its first gala benefit at the Puck building in Manhattan, with Run-DMC providing headlining entertainment. Soon after RPAF created its signature event - the Art For Life benefit and auction hosted at Rush's Co-Founder Russell Simmons' East Hampton estate. It has been a sold out success for the past 8 years. Now a franchise with galas in both East Hampton and Miami, the proceeds from Art For Life directly support Rush's grants, education and exhibition programming. Our developed programming reflects Rush's tremendous growth and service to the community. To date, The Rush Community Grants Program annually provides direct funding to over 70 nonprofit organizations that offer education programming in all disciplines of the arts to New York City and South Florida youth. The Rush Kids Program has evolved into an intensive year-round arts education program that hones the students' art making skills, bringing youth from across New York City into our gallery spaces, where they discuss contemporary art, learn about materials, and create artwork. Art concepts and cognitive skills are developed progressively throughout the program while exploring works from artists exhibited in the gallery. Rush Philanthropic has been fortunate to have the advantage of the media power of our founders Russell, Danny and Joseph "Rev. Run" Simmons. This has given the organization an exceptional platform from which to highlight the lack of access to the arts that most disadvantaged New York City children face, and speak out on the challenges facing underrepresented artists. While proud of our successes to date, we also look towards a future in which our own programs grow to encompass more children and artists while we simultaneously use our grants program to complement our work and strengthen the network of arts education providers and alternative exhibition spaces around New York City.

To say "their music helped me" sounds credulous to anyone on the outside. Quite honestly, a twinge of my own self says, "You sound like a pathetic groupie." And maybe that is the case. But play me the intro to "Wounded" and let me tell you where that rhythm and those lyrics found this girl who once held a knife to her own wrists, crying in a bathroom. Play me "Motorcycle Driveby" and I'll show you what it feels like to scream the lyrics, "So alone alone and I and I, I've never been so ALIVE!" at the top of your lungs with your windows down, hair whipping everywhere, driving away from an abusive, destructive, devastatingly hurtful relationship. Let me hear the notes to "God of Wine" and you will hear what it feels like to heal from oneself. "I know, I know I can't keep it all together. There's someone who understands you more than I do . . . " These aren't just songs. These are people. These are hearts. These are ideas and hopes, trust and healing broken hearts standing behind and believing in more than notes on a page. This is inspiration. This is life.
